A bespoke development of 7no. bungalows for over-55’s for Great Places Housing Group.
Significant pre-application consultation meetings were undertaken with the local residents to establish their ideas for the vacant site which were incorporated into the final design. The site had become an area which had attracted significant anti-social behaviour prior to this development, and as a result, the new dwellings are based around a central court which forms an extension and natural termination of an already well-established cul-de-sac of bungalow properties. On a steeply sloping site, disabled access and use was key to the proposals, along with providing a safe, well-overlooked environment for the future residents. The properties achieve Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and incorporate renewable technologies, along with grey water recycling and on-site attenuation.
An allotment garden has also been formed as part of the development which is used by both residents and the adjacent Primary School.
