Is so named because our client, Forum Housing Association, believe it will facilitate the passage of young people towards adulthood.
The project brief was to provide 26 self-contained flats for 16-24 year olds with communal training and support facilities, and it represents value engineering through design process rather than solely cost controls.
It was procured through a PPC2000 Partnering Contract. A £2.7m new build project became a £1.85m refurbishment with the addition of a second floor.
No reduction of space or quality standards were made, but through partnering we reduced the cost of construction and preliminary costs. The young residents now have accommodation that is the envy of their friends.
We hope we will be able to bring this knowledge in our services to all our future clients.
