The Practice was first established by Michael Paddock in 1976 becoming Paddock Johnson Associates in 1986 when Eric Johnson joined the partnership. The practice became Paddock Johnson Partnership in 2008, and Paddock Johnson Partnership Ltd in 2011, whereby Carl Page and Phil Emslie joined Mike and Eric as Directors, Simon Halliwell has since joined the board of Directors in early 2016.
The practice has been based in the exceptional garden village of Port Sunlight since 1988, first occupying two of the original cottages and in 2008 moving into a new bespoke office in the former schoolhouse at the centre of the Village. Port Sunlight continues to be our inspiration in all of our housing schemes, having first-hand experience of the influence good design – at all scales – can play in creating memorable places.
The core business of the Practice continues to be Architectural Design services, specialising in bespoke housing, affordable housing, extra care and specialist care projects. Master-planning, Urban Design and Conservation accreditations within the practice support the delivery of all of these elements and our team is dedicated to supporting our clients to deliver projects to their best possible outcomes. In addition to this, the practice has widened its client base and has provided both public and private sector clients with a broad-based architectural service. For example, a range of other stand-alone services are offered including registered building surveying and registered CDM Consultant services, and the practice undertakes surveys and investigations, energy ratings, space-planning, and project management and provides 3D imaging and architectural illustration.
As a multi award-winning architectural practice we strive to create elegant and best value buildings. Our ambitions are to grow our strengths and to expand in these and related areas while relentlessly seeking to provide a high quality service which we measure and strive to continuously improve.
