The innovative design of these new dwellings utilised a high-performance building system, resulting in a robust, energy efficient and cost-effective development for Great Places. Seven houses were designed to achieve Lifetime Homes standard, and ten two-bedroom flats created independent living for the occupiers, with all dwellings meeting Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4.
The construction utilised a Modern Method of Construction using an off-site manufactured SIP (Structural Insulted Panel) system, which delivered zero ODP, minimal waste, achieving overall a high-quality cost-effective solution. Additionally, the scheme also incorporated solar thermal and photovoltaic panels providing a significant contribution to the heating and power costs for the residents.
Overall, the completed project exceeded the client’s expectations, assisted by the innovative use of materials and the fast-track construction process, and the collaborative working methods provided by the design and construction team.
